Got that Cali glow. Our friendship started thru a Bible Study I lead a million years ago in the AOII house at CU Boulder. I was barely a follower of Jesus. We were equal parts wild, free, driven, determined, servants in leadership & hilarious. Here we are a lifetime later rich in friendship forged over years covered in a with tons of grace & love sourced by Jesus.
Last night we sat on the balcony & I made some optimistic ideal comment & Kristina called BS on that & started pointing out a few realistic examples & soon I was dying laughing. Julianna is so real & compassionate. I could talk to these two for days & not get enough.
Kristina lives in DC she’s an Labor & Delivery nurse has 4 kids & her husband works in DC. Julianna is a PA with 2 kids & her husband is a pastor. Somehow, our awesome husbands & tricky schedules let us find a few days to celebrate Kristina’s birthday at the beach.
A hundred times these two have pleaded with me to not give up on us. Keep these friendships as a top priority. I’m easily distracted by what’s in front of me & they have called me out with love & grace. I’d say it has taken a lot of intention, discipline & honest conversations to get this far. But every time we break through the barriers of life & get to truly connect it is WORTH IT!
Julianna asked a question she immediately knew the answer to that had us belly laughing about the dynamics between in laws & families.
There is something priceless about long term friends. The history & depth of understanding is relaxing. These two are loving, brilliant, shockingly real & honest. All that makes them dynamic, selfless friends.
They engage in friendship with love not shame.
This is a picture into one of my safest circles.
“What? You eat a chocolate caramel every night before bed? Do your have cavities? When do you brush your teeth? Oh, usually before. Okay then. Good night.?” I fell asleep at 9:30 & these two stayed up chatting, but first we had to clarify when I brush my teeth most nights.
This might be our first annual CA girls vacay! I have no idea what took us so long to start this, thanks Kristina for bringing us together.
Checking in loved.
