INFLUENCERS- An event where we learn from an everyday women in our community. She teaches what she’s learned. We walk away with practical tips! She shares big ideas, a few stories and we talk all things Jesus. It’s community & fun!
This month’s featured INFLUENCER is Vikki Lambeth. She is a personal trainer, a triathlete, volleyball player, retired Army officer, a spin instructor and a boot camp leader. Vikki runs her own fitness crew that brings together women from around the world. She talked about building positive community and using fitness to unite people. She shared her deck of cards workout with us, which I have included here. She taught us her rules of the road too. These are the rules she expects everyone in her fitness classes to follow. She has an encouraging positive vibe even when everyone is working hard and sweating in the desert.
Here is a brief note from Vikki to all of you! Soon we will be offering an online video of INFLUENCERS. We will have discussion group questions, so you can bring together a few friends and talk just like do at the live events. You will have a chance to buy swag to go with the video too! This is all about bringing your community together, encouraging each other, and learning for other everyday women making an impact in their community for good.
Greetings to all you fabulous ladies,
I want to thank you so much for spending time with me on the evening of August 19th and a special thanks to Jen for coordinating the event and inviting me to participate. She puts so much thought, work and prayer into these events and you can see that down to the minute details. It was such a special evening for me to meet all of you and to share a few things that God put on my heart. I wanted to follow up with a brief note to summarize a few of the talking points and also to leave you with a few key scriptures that we discussed on that evening.
First, recall that we are not here by chance. There is a purpose for where you are located geographically, spiritually, and physically and we must seek God to determine what that is and what he wants us to do with our time. (Acts 17:24-27)
Second, regardless of where we are, our call is to be light in the darkness. Regardless of our skills, talents, and abilities, God wants us to use what he gave us for the glory of his kingdom and to share Jesus with others. (John 1:4-5, Matthew 5:14-16)
Third, when faced with difficult decisions, God wants us to bring SPECIFIC prayers to him. Pray for guidance and confirmation through his word and through others. Then ACTIVELY wait on him by reading the word and praying. Do not move out on a decision until you have PEACE. (1 John 5:14-15, Philippians 4:6-7)
Fourth, due to time, I did not get to this point or scripture, but I think it is important. Do NOT disparage your gift. You may not think it is valuable or important, but God does not make mistakes. He will use whatever skill or talent you have for his glory. We need everyone and every skill and talent to operate effectively in the kingdom of God. (1 Corinthians 12:12-26)
Fifth, honor God in all you do. Let your actions and words reflect your love for HIM. YOU may be the ONLY Jesus that others will ever see. (1 Samuel 2:30, Matthew 5:16)
Sixth, if you are in a desert and feeling far from God, use this time to draw closer to HIM. Sometimes, he brings us to the desert so we can find HIM. (Hosea 2:14)
Lastly, reference community building, always remember to focus on commonalities. Rather than focusing on the differences and things that divide, always seek to find the things that you have in common and will bring unity rather than separation. Build trust from there. I truly hope you all have an amazing year! I have already heard from a couple of you!
